210g Build Thread....

Check out my disaster thread from one non-QT fish wiping out my entire tank. Might make you reconsider. I, too buy from a LFS that is part of a chain but each are individually run with fish that are there for long periods of time, but also new fish that come in that can bring anything in.

On another note.... yes, you need a big massive fish in that big massive tank. I'll gladly take it off your hands haha
I did see your thread....sorry to hear about the disaster. I know I should QT. I really have no excuse. How about a New Year's resolution to QT any new fish? I need an RO unit too. Perhaps I should consider these two things before any new additions.
Again I'm sorry you lost your fish.
I think I will hold on to this tank for a little while....it's really hard to move:D.
Thanks!!
Robbie

Thanks, Sounds like a couple good resolutions that could make life easier for you :)
I'm pretty sure a tank that large might fall right through the floor of my place. Any idea how much the beast weighs with all the stuff in it?

Well, four of us carried it in and we all agreed that we each felt like we were carrying more than 100lbs, so I think the tank itself is between 400 and 500lbs. With maybe 170g of water, that is 1360lbs. Probably around 350lbs of rock, plus 140lbs of sand. So that comes out to roughly 2300lbs, plus fish:D. It weighs considerably more than any of my Volkswagens. It's on an outside wall perpendicular to the floor joists, and I positioned it to span as many as possible and put a 6"x6" oak beam where the front of the tank sits with two screw jacks set on 1/4" steel plate holding it up.
I actually panicked at one point while I was filling it initially and called my engineer friend to get some reassurance that my stand was not going to have a catastrophic failure.....it still makes me a little nervous when I'm under it and look around at nothing but 1X4's holding this thing up.
And we're getting our "Nags Head Hammocks" furniture this June for the room :y220e:

holy moly. without doubt that would fall through my floor here at my place at school. The massive fish in your tank have got to take it up to 2300.5 lbs hehe

Great choice in the furniture, as you know!

I couldn't find my Toby last night :22_yikes: so after a 10 minute search with a flashlight this is where I found him. The picture is right side up...somehow he was hanging from the intake on my skimmer.
This is officially the strangest fish in my tank.
And he's eating :woot::woot:

I read that too...somewhere....but I'm not sure where.
I think it's also likely that he's about a half bubble off center. Which makes him part of the family:drool:.
