230 Tank Build

Milestone

Cross your fingers and say a prayer for a fellow aquaria aficionado, I am testing my system's water integrity tonight.

I plan to videotape the disaster, er... um... I mean event and will post a youtube link in the near future. I suppose I have to sign-up on youtube to post, right?

Regards,

Keith

one thing that i have used for sealing my plumbing on my canister filters is a thing called j b weld but once i use it i know that the connector will never come apart as well silicone tape for wraping the the male end as i screw the female connector on for extra insurance

i believe lookin at your build you will have little to no issues as you test it out thanks for posting this

Unfortunately, I delayed the water test last night. I was tired and did not want to dive into it, so to speak, without being at full energy and mental capacity.

So, today is now the day. Water will start to flow around 1100 est :22_yikes:

LOL I could imagine the trouble a ball of cotton would cause. Could probably clog the pipe causing the water to overflow all over your floor.

Horchata great avatARRRR! You forgot the eye patch though.

Well, it could not have gone much worse. :shakehead:

It seems every bulkhead needs additional tightening. All at least seeped H20 and two of the three large bulkheads within the over flow chamber leaked profusely. Fortunately, I think less than 10 gals hit the floor.

The real problem is going forward how am I going to tighten them enough with the limited accessibility. I have an oil filter wrench but I cannot get a good enough hold of the nut and generate torque at the same time in the vertical position. I think I need a large Catch basin wrench? Do they exist? I am very disheartened.

The only good news is it seemed like all my slip fittings have held. :omg:

I am open to any advice on tightening these larger bulkheads in tight spaces.
:1zhelp:

Regards

Wow..thats a bummer...
i know i saw a wrench at lowes made for tightening the nuts on your faucet, where they are hard to get to...have you tried one of those?
channel locks seem to get into some spots when other things wont...
ill look at your plumbing again, but is there a way to loosen and move some of the plumbing that is blocking your path?
