Hi Rudy!
but it is also a matter of personal taste, don't you think?
No! Well yes! All tank layouts must meet
my personal taste and please me! :evil_lol:
No certainly to each his own. It is just that without height in your tall, expensive, complex, hard fought tank, you completely negate the height. The water column just ends up being like the sky. We don't generally notice the sky, we see the things in it near the ground. Same will be with a tall tank with only stuff on the bottom.
Without substantial elevated rock structures in that
islanded tank you will be looking through it at the walls and furniture. Granted not at the bottom but everywhere else. You don't want to see a magnificent tang swimming against your TV, or wall hangings, or windows.
I recognize your landslide concerns.
The most efficient way to do aquascaping is the method depicted in this thread. Check it out see if it gives you some ideas. There is no reason it has to be just the back of the tank like they've done. It could be a wall in the center with holes thru it anywhere you want them.
