230 Tank Build

Updated Pics

Good Afternoon Everyone - Thank you once again to everyone for their kind words over the length of this project. Your help and support were extremely valuable though all the highs and lows of this large DIY project.

I have attached several photos below of the DT at 14 weeks, She is doing well. We have suffered minimal casualties thus far, a few snails and hermits. Likley due to the inevitable blance of what the DT will support after the intial explosion of macroalgae subsided.

Thanks Again.

Terrific looking!!!

Finished?

I am pleased to announce my 230 gal peninsula DT and all associated plumbing (125 gal sump in basement), carpentry, and finish work is complete.

From the ground breaking framing of the pump room in the basement to yesterday's the final coat of polyurethane, approximately 18 months have elapsed.

This project was 100% DIY, as in no tradesman were used. I did it all, often more than once, and with the help of my father on occasion, e.g. third attempt at securing bulkheads.

Amazing how much water can come from such a seemingly small leak.

Ironically, I think I already have to make an alteration by adding an exhaust fan to underneath the stand.

I have included some pics. I apologize for the glare. I will try to snap some better pics after sunset when I have more control over ambient lighting.

Regards, Keith
