230g freshwater Ideas?

Just to double check, because I can't tell exactly from your first post, but you already transferred fish from the 33g, correct? If so, did you move over filters or at least some of the established media? Any new fish since then?

Also, what test kit are you using? Those numbers are rather specific...

With such a small biomass in a large volume of water, those numbers are really alarming if they are correct.

^agreed......how did you setup the new tank filterwise?

Yes the fish are transferred. I let it run for a week with no fish to get the chlorine etc out. Then I added the fish to tank. Like a derp (looking back on it now) I didn't throw any of the filter media from the old tank.

However. The filter from the 33g still has the water and media in it. Will the good bacteria still be living on the media?

Nutrafin test kit I believe. I have also added some new fish.

I'm sorry, what total filtration is on this beast? If you carried over a small amount of media it may not be enough.

I have an fx5 on it. And... I transferred zero media. I totally spaced. It's all brand new. Will the media from the old 33g still have good bacteria on it if it's still wet?

Yes, there should be some good bacteria even if it's dormant, it'll help. 3.3 what? Ammonia? 110 nitrate needs some BIG water changes. Are the fish in the tank now? That's a difficult fix if they are...what was the 33g?

Such a cool big tank demands cool big fish! If you like the yoyo loaches, have 8-12 & skip the corys, the loaches likely will out-compete them for food & might be semi-aggressive to such laid back bottom feeders, eek . If you want plants of almost any kind, get rid of the silver dollars. Although I've never kept them, because of their plant eating & general size, they need a school & eat everything green! Skirt tetras are meh to me...have you looked at dennisoni barbs (roseline sharks)? Wow, pretty, mellow fish! What an addition to gouramis, plants & (most likely) yoyos.

Get your water params under control (nitrate under 20) over the next month or 2 with lots of water changes, then GO with some really cool(er) fish! We've all had major setbacks with our tanks but your's could be really awesome! Personally I'd skip the yoyos & get 7-8 clown loaches, much more pretty & mellower but get quite BIG, not as plant happy if that's important to you..

Clown loachs do get big... Chances are you will never see a full grown one though because they grow slow!
