****29g and mbunas?****

GuppyMan, you are now behaving like a GentleMan; I feel very proud of young men that admit their mistakes and apologize as you did. No problem, Mr.; we are here to help you!!! :cool-1:

So far, I am still kinda clueless as to what i am going to do. I don't know if i want cichlids. Or one of the community tanks in another thread... AHHH :D

A 29 gallon has a lot of options, it's a good sized tank. Either a community tank or a Tang tank would look nice. If it was me I would do a shellie tank or something similar. But that's just cuz I'm really in to african cichlids :D

And I can really sympathize with wanting a certain type of fish and realizing you can't have it. When I got my 55 gallon i was so excited. I had my first BIG tank that I could could set up however I liked. I really wanted an Oscar. My teacher had one when I was in middle school and I thought it was so cool. Then I realized I couldn't have an Oscar in my 55 gallon. I thought about doing it anyway but decided against it. Instead I looked into more types of cichlids and I set up a mbuna tank which I think I ended up enjoying a lot more. I'm certain once you look into more options for a 29 gallon you will come across the perfect set up for you and you'll be happy you didn't go with the mbuna.

i am not a fan of tanganyikans. I had a pair of telmatochromis temporalis and they bred like rabbits but i wasnt a big fan of them. Are there any cichlids that can go in a 29g? besides the common convicts and stuff.

There are several types of "Convict" Cichlid beside the common one you see. Honduran RedPoints, Cryptoheros nanoluteus, C. sajica, C, cutteri and C.. myrnae are all available on AB and suitable for a 29.

ive got 5 mbuna in a 29. 0r 30. whatever it is. but it isnt permanant, just a temporary growout

I kept a few in a 29. It was my first tank and I didn't know any better. I had a similar experience to one stated above. Everything was fine for awhile, probably a year. Then one day one fish flipped and wouldn't tolerate any other fish in the tank. I wouldn't advise anyone to try it.

i am just going to move my guppies into it! they would really appreciate the extra room :) are there any fish that would go with the guppies, that is 100% peaceful and wont really eat the baby guppies? Or def. not pick at there fins?
