35G Hex Planted : Journal

Hmmmm. So I have that 10 gallon outside on an old stand. It has the water hyacinth in it and the filter is running. I have no space for it inside right now but would it be safe to have an aquarium outside with a fish in it that could eat any mosquito eggs that end up in it. What type of fish could do that? I don't know what tank to move the gourami to. You know the tanks I have. What would you do?

The gourami needs a covered tank... Probably best to rehome the most aggressive one.

That sucks. I like them so much. I guess when I go to return the peacock cichlids I can bring a gourami or both gouramis in as well. That would leave just corydoras, dojo loaches, plecos, and a guppy in the tank. What would be a good fish that swims in the higher areas of the tank that either grows to be rather large or that I can get a school of.....errrr....what would you replace the gourami's with?

If you take back both, I'd put the little dwarf gourami back. He's a good size for the swimming space in there.

Haven't taken back the gouramis yet. Still really wish I didn't have to because they are so pretty. Anybody here from Hawaii interested in trading for them or some strawberry peacocks?
Update:
DiY CO2 still running very nicely and anacharis is growing like mad. Nitrates are pretty high in this tank so I'm always doing WCs....guess I need more plants to keep nitrates down...perhaps more java moss?

2 liter bottle
2 cups sugar
1.5 teaspoons yeast
Water up to bottle's ogive

The grass-type plant I have that grew out of a betta bulb has been releasing what seems to be new bulbs but they float to the top. Should I replant these or will they die?

Here's just some updated pics as well. I've trimmed the anacharis a couple times when it grows to reach the top of the water.

Hey! You forgot the full tank shot :D Very nice tank, I would think to test and see what happens if you plant one and leave the rest floating, see which does best. Good luck!
