38G Riparium

why not some shrimp? With a large planted tank you can have a decent size colony going. Also, you could could some longfin gold zebra danios. I don't know why, but I love the idea of them in a planted tank!

Even my smallest Black Neon will drive a shrimp nuts to its death. I will probably try some ones my Black Babaultis (I don't even know if they are Black Babaultis) gets a little bigger. So far everything is breeding in the Paludarium.

I'm not sure I want more schooling fish since I already have so many.

Yeah I'd say get rid of the Harleys as you only have 3, up the serpae & black neons (+farlowella) & call it a day. :)

I only have a bunch of Snails, so I dont' wanna over stock the tank, though there will be billions of plants in there.

I was thinking
3 Harleys (might or might not keep them, depending on parents)
10 Black Neons
10 Serpaes
2 Bolivian Rams
1 Swordtail
1 Farlowella

What do you think?

Sounds like a good plan to me!

So, I went to the beach for vacation, and I got a million pounds of river rocks (I think of some sort. They look like they should be fine for aquarium use.) and I don't think they'd look too good with black substrate, especially gravel. I'll see first and then maybe switch with sand.

Just a quick update, will have pictures when I'm all settled in from vacation and all the maintenance is done.

I had a female guppy in that tank and she had babies again. This time I see 3 fry in the water sprite. Pretty stoked but I don't think I want to keep them. I'll raise them and eventually give them away to someone on AC.

All the plants are thriving except for the Compact hygro. I'm thinking it's the lack of light due to the water sprite. I'll thin it down more.

I also added an Ozolet sword in the tank prior to leaving. I dont' know if it grew at all while I was gone but it definetely adds some color.

I'm still a little hesitant on swapping my gravel to sand. I need to see if the rivier rocks I got are even inert at all and if they look nice under black gravel.

Finally got my package of Riparium Plants and really "Ripariumized" my tank!

Here are some update pics:

Awesome update! I love the colors in that pilea. The shaded crypts lend a darker feel to that part if the tank, which really emphasizes your center java fern(?). But the rock piles appear too symmetrical, to me. Perhaps spread out the clump on the left?

That farlowella is neat-looking!

The centerpiece is Hygro Compact/Java Fern. They have the same leaf coloration so it looks like one whole plant.

I'll see what I can do with the left side. I had another rock formation but the rock I had ended up being too big.

Thanks!
