3M Color Quartz substrate

on the bag it even says dont use with cories though i had it with some pandas for a long time and they are fine. now i figure why bother go with flourite black sand. its about the same price plus its great for plants.

just keep looking around and calling for the 3m problem i had was there was a big list for around me. some only sell the people using it and the people using it use it and wont sell it lol.

I was thinking of setting a smaller tank for my bedroom and just have a few dwarf plecos or it could be a pleco growout tank. Maybe use the tahitian moon sand and get a moonlight light. I can use it as a night light too... :)

Do you think shrimps (RCS) will be ok with moon sand too?

Would I see much of a difference in my plants between a Fluorite type of substrate and a 3M Color Quartz black substrate?

this isnt a sand per se so i doubt it would nourish plants. it is ceramic coated w/ quartz. i woent to a pool contractor and then i found a sealent company that sold it way cheap by 50lb bags @ 20.00.:grinyes:. it takes some searching sometimes but its worth it!

I called about 15 different pool contractor places and got no luck, no one can even order me any.. One place can order me some, but I have to buy a pallet of about 20 bags :wall:

Is there a better search I should use for finding a company with this product?

call this # 410-789-7400 metro sealant. they will ship 1 bag or 50. they have "s" grade very fine like sand or "t" grade a little more coarse and larger.:grinyes:

I live in Washington state, shipping cost would be way to much.

Anyone know where i can get this 3M sand in NE GA or upstate, SC? I have been to many pool stores and all look at me with a blank look and have no idea what it is. I have found one that was actually intellegent enough to research it with their distributors and can get it for $54 per 50lb bag. I can get moon sand from Petsmart cheaper than that.

If I can't find it here local i will contact the places in Charolotte that were posted and drive there if it's cheap enough. It's about 160 miles, so it will have to be around $25 per bag to justify the trip. I may buy extra and try to sell it. Along my research i read that it should retail from anywhere between $25 to $35 per 50lb bag.

For those who have bought it how much did you pay?
