One thought on heating - what kind of house heat do you have? If you have hot water/baseboard heat, i would just add another zone to supply the PEX radiator in the tank and let a thermostat control that. If you have forced hot air (which might be likely down there as you'd use that for central AC as well) then nevermind.

I'm not sure what you plan on doing for lighting, but have you considered solatubes over the tank? A few of those would probably light it up pretty well.

Natural gas forced air furnace using same duct work as central air.

I have the first design worked out. Just need to locate the parts I need.

No plants other than the artificial kind. My friend uses huge ones he gets from a craft store in his 2000+ gallon tanks and you'd swear they were real.

I'm going to take you up on the electrical help. I'll post some pics of my most pressing question when I get home.
