4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

It is completely against code to use pressure treated wood indoors.

Wow, did the city have many questions when you presented the building plan for permit? How many mods did they require? How long did they give you and how many inspections are required? Did you have to get flood insurance?

Permit for what? Building a wooden box in my house with a plastic front? About the only thing they could get me on is the open ceiling and wall between the two rooms. I have a building permit from the "Katrina repairs" that I could technically say were still not completed. What would they inspect? My box? What mods?

The only things they could require to meet code would be the electrical and the framing supporting the front wall since it ties into the structure of the house.

For about the umpteenth time, flood insurance (though I am required to have it because of where I live) would NOT cover a busted aquarium, broken pipe, or any other flood that occurs inside your home. Flood insurance ONLY covers flood waters that rise and cause damage from the OUTSIDE of your home. Home owners insurance covers internal flooding even if the water comes through your roof. Anyone who lives here can attest to what I'm saying.

Dang nice progress

Would be more progress, but I bought the wrong Philips bits. I bought the skinny ones, but need the fat ones. I'm fitting all the plywood first to be sure everything is snug. I learned my lesson about cutting and assuming I got it right and gluing right off.

cool. i could just see a cop knocking on your door. "sir, you are under arrest for building an illegal fish tank with out obtaining a permit."

I think gunner just misunderstood when you mentioned that pressure treated lumber was against code for interior use, and took it as you took out a BP for this project.......

i saw a whole bunch of railroad ties (the extemely large peices of wood under the tracks) and thought, hmm that would make some good frame peices for a large tank..

Exactly, I was interested in the info encase I ever decide to do something like this I could get a rough Idea of what to expect to save me some wasted time. But hay no problem as i once installed an earth retaining wall without a permit (never again).
