hey guys i am building roughly a 230 gallon ply tank. i need some advice. i am putting 1/2 glass as the front veiwing panel, and a cut out of the ply on the sides for a fiberglass veiwing panel on both sides. the dimensions are going to be 78'' x 26'' x 26'' i need to know what i should use to seal the entire inside of the tank(wood) and then what should i use to seal the glass & fiberglass to the sealant. PLEASE HELP ME. i need to know this stuff so if you have a favorable company or product send me in that direction!:help2:
 
I'm using Pond Coat by Permadri, but I'm not fiberglassing anything, so I can't really answer on that. To seal the window, I used Dow 795.

My next project will be a DIY Bakki shower coupled with one of these. I would like to try to build it in its entirety within the confines of my acryllic cabinent/stand for my 200 gallon tank. Bakki showers seem to be the state of the art in Koi filtration, alot has to do with the media from what I read........

Bakki Showers aren't really new. Bio towers have been around in aquaculture for a very long time and even longer is sewage treatment.

The main problem with bio towers like that is they create and immense amount of humidity from evaporation.
 
Yeah I know, would need to have something like a bathroom vent to deal with the humidity if used indoors. From what I hear, in relation to the bakki showers is the developement of some new ceramic media that really makes them work well. Hype or fiction hard to say but have heard alot of good stuff on it ($$$). And yes I have seen other threads on algea scrubbers but the acryllic one that one of the posters was developing really caught my eye!
 
Kaldnes is the best media available.

That's SantaMonica developing the acrylic one. He's the thread starter and promoter. That development is based on hundreds of people's input. He can't claim it as his own design.
