4300 Gallon Plywood Build (3600+ Take 2)

It's not so much how many coats, but using up the 15 gallons recommended. It covers 20-30 sq. ft. per gallon and I have 300 sq. ft. to cover. Going conservatively that means it'll take 15 gallons to create 60 mil thickness (that of two credit cards). I love this stuff. It's easier to work with than paint. It thick but spreads out thin very quick.

so - I know that I am slow and its late and I am tired But, When you say "It covers 20-30 sq. ft. per gallon" is that coverage @ 60mil thick? SO in fact for the slower folks like me. 1 gallan will spread out a lot further than 20 -30 sq. ft. if we are talking about a single coating. However to get multiple layers up to the correct thickness it will only cover 20-30 sq. ft. @ a 60 mil thickness per Gallon!

I think thats what you were saying right>?

do you mean 60mm thick, as in 6cm = 2.2 inches? Wow, that will be rubbery.

No dude, 60 mil is NOT 60MM.

Pete Stated "60 mil thickness (that of two credit cards). "

that is why the metric system makes more sense when measuring small things lol :) anyway just for me seeing it must be a little bouncy, before you fill it can you get a bouncy ball and see how much it bounces :) ok immature little kid i am but it could be interesting!! :) looking good though i am very envious

TIP: Don't use a cheap paint roller on the end of a non-telescoping paint pole while hanging precariously over the wall of your 6'2" deep tank.

Paint roller handle plastic breaks

Pole jams into side of tank making a 6" long zig zag scrape all the way to the plywood

Nearly fall into tank in the process (That would have hurt like hell and sucked really bad because the only way out aka the ladder was out of reach in the rafters AND the rubber coat was still wet)

Have no idea where broken off piece of plastic handle is in the tank and it is potentially a permanent part of the aquarium now since it probably landed in wet rubber coat.

Nearly give myself a coronary in the process

Some things are better done during normal working hours instead of 11:45 pm.

Hope you found this to be entertaining.
