5.5g converted to frameless & planted! LOAD WARNING! Semi-journal

Thanks! I am still working out the pile of stones or cave in my head, I'll get there though.

The betta was a rescue so I can't ditch him, being abandoned twice may be too much for the little guy! On the other hand.....now that it is setup I have been tempted to put other fish in there. :lipssealedsmilie: A tiny shoal would look so nice in there though!

This was really cool! I'm glad that you'd documented this process so we could follow along--your tank looks really great! And of course--so does your Betta......did you put him in the tank? Schooling fish would look pretty.....:lipssealedsmilie:

Thanks Bubbles, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Schooling fish would look nice wouldn't they.....How about some ember tetras? :lipssealedsmilie:

Not sure you can say Schooling fish and 5.5g :headshake2: lol
You should instead get Micro rasboras from www.franksaquarium.com His shipping is crazy high but hey you can come to brooklyn or LI to pick them up. They will definitely fit the tank well and since they are so tiny they would be able to school without a problem.

Thanks H3D.

Aren't microrasboras & ember tetras about the same size? I probably would not put schooling fish in there anyways but I did just buy 8 ember tetras. :)

I am going to post an update in a little while, I am surprised by the growth of the Taiwan moss.

*EDIT* 1 week Update!
Not much noticeable growth in the needle leaf java fern but it greened up a lot!

Anubias petite is getting a lot of algae :mad2: but has several new leaves. The moss has new growth all over the place!

I have been dosing flourish line ferts & excel. It is a pain to dose when your only dosing .4ml at a time but so far I am happy with the results.

It's been over yr since I updated this thread, guess I am a little behind! :D This tank has been somewhat dismantled, I stole the plants for a different project. But I will get to that later. :)

Thanks likwid818, most of my tanks have several DIY ascepts.

The Betta does not allow any shrimp in his tank! He gets along fine with most other fish but not shrimp.
