Oh wow! that additional top split using the Dremel Tool is a great idea besides my way of just cutting the corners. Next time Ill do the same. As far as size limitation for a trimless or bracless tank, I think the key is if we are talking old style wood-grain decorative trim its just for decoration and does not matter. If its a new hard plastic bracing the key is to make sure your in compliance with tank glass thickness requirements before going rimless on larger size tank's like 30 gallon and up.
 
Awesome, but why go through all this effort when 5 gallon thanks are only 10 bucks at petco or petsmart?

Umm, not a rimless one. :) Besides I just love projects, this took barely any effort and the tank was free! I now have a rimless tank that I can be proud of because I made it that way.
