5 gallon tank

I have a little 5 gallon tank that is planted and has been running for several months. It has a bunch of snails in it and two fast growing cichlid fry(they will be moved to my main tank soon). I use to have a betta in there too but he died around Christmas. I have a feeling that a betta is really my only choice as far as stocking but I figured I would ask about some other ideas. I really don't like guppies but otherwise I'm open to all ideas.

I tried searching the forums since I'm certain this has been asked a lot, but didn't come up with many matches.

I hadn't thought about platies, they can be pretty neat fish.

I have never had a gourami before, may be something to think about. I guess I didn't realize I had so many options I was afraid people would just tell me to get a 10 gallon lol.

Oh wow! Now there is an interesting little fish. I did a quick google search and they seem like they might be a winner. I'll have to look around to see if my local LFS have any. I'm not sure where I could find them
