Okay so what do you think of this for my first wave of cleanup crew. 3 to 4 hermits 5 nassarius snails and 3 cleaner shrimp. I was also wondering about bumblebee snails I've seen not a lot of people have them and was wondering why. Thanks
Hey there, boy have you had some obstacles...this is my first time reading the thread! Good for you for persevering. I think the bumble bee guys are super cute and haven't heard anyone complain about them. Porcelain crabs are great too...beautiful, harmless, filter feeders.
Okay good then I think I'll had a couple of bumbleebees too. The porcelains are cool too I'll have to think about one later down the road. I was also wondering my metal halide boxes doesn't say anything except 175 watt. does it matter what ballast you have or do you have to have a certain type of ballast for say a 12,000k bulb compared to a 4,000k bulb?
If they are like standard MH ballasts, the Kelvin temp. shouldn't make any difference. The ballast/ignitor will work for all MH 175w bulbs. You just have to make sure you use that wattage bulb. A higher wattage won't ignite and a lower one won't last long.
ok i kinda have a duh question, but for cycling my tank I used fish food because the tank is in the basement without any windows so using raw shrimp wouldn't work too well. My ammonia spiked at .5 and is on it's way down. Right now its at .25. So should I have turned the pumps off when I put the fish food in???? Thanks
ok i kinda have a weird question but i was doing my nitrite test and i can't find for the life of me the little card you compare it with. Could somebody be really awesome and put a picture of there's on here. It is an API test for saltwater or fresh. it came in the saltwater master test kit. Thanks
Never mind about the cards I found a site that showed them all. I was also wondering my ammonia is 0 nitrates5 trites 0. My ammonia spiked at only .5. Should I try and spike it again. The cycle only lasted 1 week too. Thanks again.
