Well I don't have to worry about my snails and things starving. Because I have my first algae outbreak going on. Whoo Hooo!!! (sarcasm). I just want to make sure this is just normal and not something I'm gonna worry about later.
Also I'm dying here! I want to get a fish so bad. My tank has been running for around a month now. Any thoughts. Should I wait? Go for it? I should be setting up my sump withing the next week or two. I will be buying a octupus 150 protein skimmer after June 5 (my birthday will have the money then).
I went out and got another piece of rock today! It is six pounds and covered in corraline. I even found a little shoot of some type of macroalgae on it! I picked up the 20 gallon for the sump and realized that I measured my stand's outside measurements and the 20 gallon won't fit so not sure what to do about that. But anyway I also picked up my ten gallon so I can set up my quarantine tank.
I hopefully will be pickking up my first fishie this weekend! I was just wondering which one do you guys think should I bring home first? I know your supposed to started out with your more gentle and then work your way up. The fish I want are orange or purple firefish(depends on what they have) yellow assesor, green clown goby, lawnmower blenny, pair of falsle percula clownfish. Thanks
I would wait on the Lawnmower until you get some more microalgae in there, maybe 2 or 3 more moths. You just wouldn't want to accidentally starve the guy or gal...they help with the aglae clean up so why not wait a little.
Put the clown fish in last out of this list. Just go slowly one or two fish every two to three weeks and you should be fine. Use your QT (Grins will approve of this) and it should be fine.
There will always be some type of bully in a tank and at every addition some "order" will be created in the tank by it's inhabitats but it always seems to work out in the end. With the exception of Damsels...they seem to be referred to as devils on this site...pretty but still devils...
Comment on the BB snails, they really are not algae eaters so I wouldn't add them as part of the CUC but just because you want them. Don't get too many they can be harmful on the good stuff in the sandbed, they eat it...from what i have read.
Good luck and post more pics as you go along. Great job so far.
