55g betta palace

Tank looks great. :) So much for the myth about betta not liking big tanks. :grinno:

Do you have problems with getting the plants to grow due to lack of nutrients?

Personally I would be sneaking in a few Cory cats or Kuhli loaches to up the bioload a bit and help the plant growth?
But I understand the idea of a water garden, as opposed to a tank full of fish

I can't imagine putting this guy in anything smaller now. He utilizes every inch of his space.

Although, like you say, I would love some cory cats in there. Or maybe some ember tetras.

The short story behind why there's one betta in that tank is that, a little while ago I thought I was moving, and I rehomed all my other fish (I had rosy barbs and celestial pearl danios). Now, I'm not sure whether I'm moving this year or next, so everything is kind of in limbo. I want new fish, but not if I'm going to have to turn around and rehome them in a few months.

But believe me, every time I walk in the lfs, it take all the willpower I've got not to walk out with some panda cories :evil_lol:

Wow, a lovely garden... Very peaceful! And the bettas coloring pops against so much green!

Gah, I wouldn't have been able to resist getting a few pandas or albinos... nice sized tank!

And I'm sure the MTS help with bioload, lol!

Red veiltails are my favorites, and he has got to be thrilled with all that space to himself! :omg: :grinyes:

Tell me, does he explore the whole tank, or mainly stick to one territory?

awww he is soo spoiled!!!
beats the hell outa a plastic cup doncha think? :grinyes:
he is ccccccccuuuuuuuuuute too:)

Very nice low light setup .

That is so pretty! What kind of snails are those, though?
Malaysian Trumpet Snails (MTS)

By the way, I agree with what everybody said about your watergarden idea! Very beautiful and creative and what you are doing for the lil guy is really cool
