65 Gallon Build (First Tank)

Very cool, nicely looking set-up already. Really like that stand under your tank. I am getting in the SW side of fishkeeping too right now. Still mostly research and question asking hopefully soon I'll be able to get to this point too.

Well I wasn't to happy with the current Aquascape also picked up some more live rock, 2nd go around... I like it alot better and also has a few good overhands, (Planning on a softy/LPS with primarly as a lionfish, so the cave/overhands should be good)

The rock on the top righthand, the rock covered in GSP I ended up moving it and placing it connecting the island to the rest of the aquascape got to lazy to take another picture. Tell me what you think!

Stand looks AMAZING.

Question: Is that tube to the right on the bottom the drain? If so, if your return pump fails (many reasons for this) your entire tank will drain into your sump and flood. I would use a much longer pipe that's closer to the surface to prevent this. You can easily cover it with rocks if you're worried about it looking funky.

lol quite a few things changed again :swear: I'll have a nice new update soon, I'll also take a few pictures of the stand. It wasn't to hard to make though had a metal tubing stand and just ended up skinning it and painting.

I dont know what tube your speaking of, But I've done all the necesarry steps and the Herbie is working flawlessly. have done numerous tests including turning off the return pump to see if my sump would be able to handle the excess volume. My emergency drain in the overflow box is all the way to the top almost and the primary drain is about halfway (has the strainer on it)

Right. I saw the overflow setup to the rear left but there's what seems to be white pvc towards the front right... I didn't mean to insult your intelligence. I just thought I'd point it out JUST IN CASE.

Oh I think your looking at my returns? I still need to paint those black, lol sorry If I came off a bit rude in my reply, its early morning for me.

Thanks for the input tho!

(didnt mean no disrespect)

Nono. none taken!

So that's a return on the bttom of the tank? If so, I'm assuming you're using a check valve?

I should really just take your pic and circle what I'm talking about... lol

Yeah I'm totally confused now lol, I think you need to circle it... Theres two pipes in the overflow, My primary drain (w/strainer) and emergency drain..

Two returns coming over top of the tank.. (seen as the white elbows, still need to paint em) and yeah I got a True Union check valve on the return

That tank looks great! Maybe you should get some nice shrooms for that little island off to the left. Some Riccias(sp?)
