We always do.....but it has been way more than a second chance...just saying.

i don't think u guys are getting that im trying to say, yes venting does work, BUT if you want to sex an angel WITHOUT taking it out, or stressing it at all, u would have to wait for it to mature

and anyway, i don't know this, so im asking, how do u vent, like, where do u check the angel when u take it out?

what does that do?

like what tells u male vs female on angels, the only surefire way i know is the new part that sparkxx told me about the bump on the head, and by looking at them once they are mature, the female gets a spout sort of thing i think?

you flip it over

in a sense you flip it over but you didnt elaborate, pretty poor comment AAF.

basically, if you take it out with wet hands and gently turn it over without stressing it out and check the anal area. here is a diagram I found:

Female Frontosa

I am not an expert so can't go into exact detail, but I am sure if you use google it will bring many answers :)

i was kidding!!!!!!! and couldnt you take a critter keeper and put the angel in that and look underneath it? wouldnt that be less stressful?

I haver vented angels but I have vented mbuna. Basically males are oo and females are oO on the underside. Google it for more pictures. Once you know what you are looking for it's pretty easy. As long as the fish is large enough. On very small fish it's tough to tell. With my mbuna they are easiest to tell when over 2.5 inches long.

excuses excuses :D

its only really a ten second job really I guess (never done it myself though, so don't my word for it). seen as it is quite obvious to determine female from male. again, you have to be observant, especially on smaller cichlids :)

You don't even need to take the fish out of the water in most cases.....
