I think he's got guts for trying so much so soon. It's possible to breed fish when young. Besides, aren't you only 14 or so? (sorry if I'm wrong :)). Besides that, if he thinks he can handle it, then he should give it a shot, within reason. Disuss for when he's 16 :D But breeding is fine I think. If you have the capability to do it, why shouldn't you?

thanks:)
aaf is 15 and im 14
well yea the 13 thing was mainly for the discus. breedings ok as long as he can keep up with it, but he should get everything stable first. im actaully 15 and havent breed anything yet or rather tried to raise anything.

i know why ur not breeding anything;)

u have tons of pets, u have 2 reptile tanks, i think and like 5 fish tanks, which are species tanks/community also, if u got 1 big tank for show, and then u could use the other 4 for breeding, shrimps, angelfishes, and even one for breeding self cloning crays as u could keep them with the crabs.

Your tank looks good for a beginning tank but I think u should get some water wisteria in the background to cover the cords. But the shrimp will be eaten by the angelfish or the rams so u should really get rid of them

thx;)

the shrimps are in a diff. tank, i was updating my other 10G shrimp tanks, and 20G tank, the 72G has all compatible fish

so sad:( one of my albino long fin corys died yesterday, it has been acting slow and unresponsive to even the net for 1-2 weeks:(

the cords are temp. i have them showing because i needed temp. aeration, but now that i got the extra filter, it should be fine;)

thanks:)

moved to pm so we dont get off topic. is the stocking in your signature right on your tank? what about updates on your other tanks?

Yeah, the sig is right I think

And the other stuff is also right and if u read earner posts u will see that i did update the old thread

And btw, I will be starting a new thread in 2 weeks

I think you should figure out what is wrong with this tank. Didn't you also have a sick ram or something? If you're planning on breeding any of the fishes you have, it is best to figure what is wrong with them. I wouldn't want to buy fishes from someone who ignores what is wrong with their fishes and doesn't keep them in right conditions. Mind you, I'm not trying to be mean but feel like you're kind of ignoring some good advice on past pages.

Also, instead of getting livestock, think/plan about getting more plants for this tank. Looks kind of bare for the fish listed on your signature.

please dont attempt discus again :( surely you would have learned from your last experiance that the tank is just too small for a school. plus, you said cories and schoolers, wheree are all the other fish going? If I am giving my honest opinion I would stop getting anymore tanks, or fish and learn what fish you actually like. Then once you have figured that out, you can plan ahead a few years. Not saying sell all the fish, but thin out your stocking a bit, you have bought enough fish to have experianced at least one species from groups i.e cichlid, characins, tetras etc so what your favourite? I think you should sit back and admire all tanks for awhile, and stop changing stuff every week :) Just take a step back and instead of buying plants/livestock and just relax a bit lol.

FishBoss, you should find out what killed off the cory, and then figure out what's wrong with the Ram. Once you've doen that, give you fish some time to settle and medicate the tank (if it got the ram it can probably get other fish too). Then let your tank recover and work on getting it just perfect. Once it's perfect for you, then start working on breeding and more difficult fish.

To those who told him not to try discuss again, correct yourselves. You mean that he shouldn't do discuss for a while, maybe a few years, not that he should never do them again.

Kind of agree with FF about the you having guts, but there is a fine line between being gutsy and just jumping into the deep end. :) I know what you mean by likeing all the fish together as one, but you gotta have a fave fish secrectly :D Even is you have never kept them, for example, I love the look of severums and would love to have one. You could always get a whiteboard and have aims etc like get the sick ram healthy again. Because you have so many tanks, its kind of impossible to run them all smoothly without some kind of timetable. You could keep a book or something with all the happenings, theres plenty of things put there to make your tanks work perfectly :D

on a side note, 55g is too small for discus IMO :/

EDIT: FF, if the discus thing is aimed at me, then I did mean a few years and sorry if I typed it in such a way that it meant what I didn't mean D:
