they said that they would honor the price difference, but they were out of rena xp3! and home depot won't cut glass anymore! but i'm going to this special like glass and co place, where they will cut glass. and they said that there is no such thing as pool filter sand. . . unless people were talking about DE Filter powder?

I went to Petsmart today and pricematched some API testing stuff...... I also looked at an XP3 they had (only one they had left) It was $179 for the instore price

it is basically crushed shells. its a very fine powder, but its heavy at the same time.

no then i wouldnt use it. find some real pool filter sand.

but if i use the filter powder, wouldn't it give my tank extra filtration?

no your using it for your substrate. it wont just magically start filtering your water.

dang. we have so much at my house though. its really really clean. i'm not sure if it is crushed up shells, but that is what my mom told me a few years ago. (she may have been lying cuz i was young) idk. . . but it is very clean.

How high?

how high should my slate be stacked? and if i decide to use lava rock (which seems less expensive in the long run) how high should it go?

If it's for an african tank, as high as you want without it toppling over.
