alot of sand.. will brighten up with the lights on

:headbang2: ya seriously! i had massive doubts about 100lbs of sand being enough to fill up half that amount! but i think it looks much more natural than if i had gotten gravel, but it was a pain to clean and get it in the tank without spilling it all over my house. :mad2: if all goes well it will be up and running by the end of this weekend (but chances are it won't seeing as how much trouble i've had so far getting all this done). . . but since there is no school on monday i'll have an extra day to work on it! (how long should i wait (keep in mind i haven't a testing kit and cannot afford one right now) before i add guppy fry to the tank?) i promised my grandma that i wouldn't add any fish until 2/25 (my b-day) since she bought me the tank, but i still think that i should add some of my guppy fry to the tank to moniter how they will do in the tank. . . right?

AquariumNoob13 you're weird :), put it together, it is OK :), then when you add the water this weekend just plug the filter into the outlet.

you may say i'm weird, but it was such a pain to find an xP3 (petsmart.com STILL hasn't given me my giftcard money back!!!!) that if it breaks i will be super pissed! lol. so i want to do everything possible to keep it safe.

you can open it right now, examine it, learn its ways, be as one lol or you can just hook it up and test it by your tub to see if it works.. last thing you want is a "still sealed" broken filter in the box.. (just saying)

I thought all rena filters had manufacturer's warantee, at least a 3 year one or something like that, so you could just go through them for repair or replacement instead of a reseller like petsmart.

You mean use the guppies to cycle the tank, or are you using a filter from an established tank for cycling?

P.S. kick a.ss granny you got there, nice birthday present :)

hell ya she is! :grinyes: she was like "I want to buy you a bigger fish tank for your b-day" and she had JUST given me $160 to buy one for channukah (but i hadn't yet found one to buy). so i told her this and she was like "I know I know, but I WANT to". so i found a 75gal a few days later on craigslist (HAIL CRAIGSLIST PEOPLE!), she gave me the money to buy it, and i got it a few days later. :grinyes: GREATEST GRANDMA EVER! lol.
