get it... you're not paranoid! also... i'd like to add that wood grain just might drive you nuts. i covered mine with rustoleum black paint. it works great, looks smooth and will match your stand.

acetone can be used to break down that old silicone a little better than vinegar but it's a trade off. you will have to clean like a madman afterwards... a few times over... i can help you through it if need be. either way it's a lot of stress and elbow grease.

white vinegar and a sponge? What should I use to scrape it off with? Would it be worth it to get one of those $3 caulk scrapers at walmart?

this is gonna suck lol... Thanks for your help... I will post pics and updates when I'm done.

Need help... I really don't want to spend much money at all so pls keep that in mind...

1 250w jager

or

2 200w stealths

also... would a fluval 405 with a emperor 400 be good filtration

I would go with the two 200w heaters and the fluval and emperor will be plenty for filteration.
How are you getting on with the re-seal?

I used vinegar for a while, but I think I am going to try rubbing alcohol instead. Its sooo much work lol. No matter how much I try it seems like there is still a little left if i press my finger hard against a corner and drag it across.
