From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades

The Crusades were a series of several military campaigns—usually sanctioned by the Papacy—that took place during the 11th through 13th centuries. Originally, they were Roman Catholic Holy Wars to recapture Jerusalem and the Holy Land from the Muslims, but some were directed against other Europeans, such as the Fourth Crusade against Constantinople, the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars of southern France and the Northern Crusades.

In 1063, Pope Alexander II had given papal blessing to Iberian Christians in their wars against the Muslims, granting both a papal standard (the vexillum sancti Petri) and an indulgence to those who were killed in battle.

The Crusades were called into action by the Pope to oust the current settlers in the 'Holy Land'. The Europeans initiated the hostilities.

The 'retaliation' that you mention was in response that 'Christians' didn't happen to be settled in the area that was historically called Israel.

They armed up, traveled a few thousands miles, and said, "we are taking your homeland".

Maybe you should 'understand history' before you accuse others of not knowing it, Joe. If you think that the christian god has not been called upon to sanction slaughter of innocent people just like every other god has been then you are deluded.

The "muslims" preach death to "non-believers" and those that don't convert..

Sounds like a really good reason why we must eradicate any belief in a higher being that sanctions our iniquities against fellow humans.

So...

Everybody listen, and know..

We are in a Holy War right now.

The "muslims" preach death to "non-believers" and those that don't convert..

And now, we have, UAE, and Iran getting together.

There's a Billion or so 'muslims' in this world...

We have a "problem".

_____________

That is just plane wrong. We are not in a holy war. The people we are in a war with might all have specific religious beliefs, but it is not one religion v. another. Not all muslims preach death to non-muslims, infact the vast majority don't. The problem isn't muslims, the problem is that that area of the world doesn't have a whole lot of freedom and liberties. Everything they know about the western world is told to them by people that fear freedom and liberty, and have to make everything sound like us westerners are so awful that we deserve to die. If you look at countries like Kuwait, Quatar, and Bahrain, they know more about what the west is about and realize that different people can co exist without having to give up their own personal views. That is what the rest of the area needs.
UAE is actually been a very good friend to the U.S. Some terrorists have come from there, but some terrorists have come from America and Brittan too.
(The way things are right now, when the oil runs out, the UAE will probably be the only country in the region that has a strong economy, but I digress.)

Everyone believes in something, even atheists have a belief. No matter what belief structures are out there, there are going to be people that think that people should die if they don't fall into what they believe is right. I don't think there is any main stream religion out there that actually says we need to kill non-believers.

I did study Islam in a philosophy of religion class, and its actually a fairly sensible religion (more so than Christianity in some aspects) when it's not being used as an excuse to kill as many people as possible.
