For some reason Columbus sounds good to me also, but I'm not sure why

Funny how at happens.....
Any good parks?
Someone with a big back yard?
When is good?
I think local gatherings may be the way to start...somoene have one, whoever can get there does, and then someone in another location have one..
Indianpolis has a great park system, only from years of taking band kids there for a trip and killing time in various indy parks.

columbus Parks are awesome, and plenty of them with easy access and good shelterhouses in the event of a suprise thunderstorm. I could also probably make arrangements to have the gathering at the Zoo/ national aquarium which has a great picnic shelter area for large groups visiting. Ohh and did I mention for those with kids that the zoo shares a parking lot with a very large water park?

That would be interesting..a social gathering and a fish related activity in one. And a water park. So when would be good? Plan ahead for next summer so people can make travel arrangements?

If people are intersted throw a date out there. I'd go for late july early august personally. June is no good, and early July I'll be backpacking the Appalachian trail (I hope). If It's Columbus, I'll find out about package deals on tickets to the Zoo/ Water park, and get some info on local hotels etc. I really hesitate to volunteer to coordinate this, but will help any way I can.
Dave

If it's Columbus I could put up a few folks. It just depends on how many would be willing to cram up together and listen to the chirping of 11 crazy birds, one of which is the wife

Well come on..someone set a date and place. Those who can come..come..and post pics for those who can't.
I gotta look at a map....

Just an FYI Nursie, Peoria is about a 7 hour drive without Kids in the car. 8 1/2 with kids. The route is very simple, I-74 east to indianapolis, I-70 west to Columbus. Indy to Columbus is about 2.5 hours depending on traffic and rest stops. I'll start researching zoo packages and shelterhouse availability.

Since no one else will do it, I'll say July 22nd for the get together. That gives everyone friday night Saturday morning to arrive, and Sunday to get home. If we can get a second on that motion we'll put it to a vote.

I'll hunt down Phone numbers for my travel Agent, and will gladly help anyone with Hotel/travel arrangements as well. I'll have to get permission to share bedrooms with folks, but we do have a couple of extra rooms as well.

Dave

So it's Columbus then? I have kids, but they are 20 and 24. Not sure who will want to come. Or if you think we should, we could post a poll with a few locations listed.
I don't like to ride in the car that long, so I'll probably take a couple of more days and look for other things to do on the way to and from.
Hotels will hold a block of rooms for a certain period of time. See what you come up with.

I'm up for planning something in Vancouver BC. I could plan some events at the Vancouver Aquarim (I have contacts that will do a full behind the scenes tour), as well I work for a wholesaler (we sell to petstores) and practically have our own aquarium(s).......Anyone in BC interested?
