As for the frame, I kind of just "winged it" when I built it. Here is a picture of what it looks like without the rock. I just went with what sounded good in my head and I knew I didn't want it completely square so I angled the outter front corners. Originally I wanted to put a nozzle in the center pointing upwards but discovered that pretty much takes away the flow from the holes in the floating reef if I do that so that idea was scrapped and why you see caps in the middle of the frame now.
Algae... that part is easy... just keep your phosphates below .03 and some snails and algae will have a very hard time growing (except in birdsnest corals because nothing can get in there to clean algae so I do have a little in my birdsnest). I did have some odd red algae at one point and I was forced to dose vodka for a month to get rid of it, but that process worked like a charm and never done anything since.
