As for the frame, I kind of just "winged it" when I built it. Here is a picture of what it looks like without the rock. I just went with what sounded good in my head and I knew I didn't want it completely square so I angled the outter front corners. Originally I wanted to put a nozzle in the center pointing upwards but discovered that pretty much takes away the flow from the holes in the floating reef if I do that so that idea was scrapped and why you see caps in the middle of the frame now.

Algae... that part is easy... just keep your phosphates below .03 and some snails and algae will have a very hard time growing (except in birdsnest corals because nothing can get in there to clean algae so I do have a little in my birdsnest). I did have some odd red algae at one point and I was forced to dose vodka for a month to get rid of it, but that process worked like a charm and never done anything since.

Actually, found a better picture of the floating reef. This was my original build of it. Like I said, had to remove the nozzles.

ok so the plumbing on the very bottom is plugged? just to support the rocks. the water comes in from the back only correct?

Yup, bottoms are threaded plugs and just feet to hold it level with the holes and support the rocks. Yes, water just comes in through the back.

You going to IMAC West Sunday Guillo?

My tank has been on google for a while now. When you search for certain corals or fish in Google images my thread, blog, and pics come up. I didn't know about the floating reef one though.

Ace if we go just on Sunday what time would we jam from here?

I am guessing if they open at 9 and it is around a 2 hour drive from my place we would need to leave around 8am from my place to get there early, but still after it opened. No need to get there first thing because it is day 3 of it so it will be cherry picked through anyway. Again though, only go if YOU really want to go.. I am just tagging along for the ride. If you don't want to or can't make it don't worry about it.

Hey, how about carpooling in my van? I think my buddy Scott wants to tag along too. Getting there first thing AM isn't necessary unless you're going for choicest coral or attend presentations. Better to wheel and deal last couple hrs. Raffles start at 5pm w/ grand prize at 7pm. How about leaving at 10 for 1pm arrival?
