They're pretty easy to care for. Mine lives in a 30 gallon long aquarium. I see them offered for sale every now and then at pet stores. I got mine from a pet store that was closing in the area for free! :D You can find them on Kingsnake.com or at reptile shows too.

There are actually 2 species I see for sale being offered as African Bullfrogs/Pyxie Frogs.

Pyxicephalus adspersus - the true African Bullfrog
Pyxicephalus edulis - the Dwarf African Bullfrog. This one doesn't even get half the size of the True.

How do you tell the differecne of the two?

Pyxicephalus edulis is smaller, more brown in color and has lots of yellow on it's sides and belly. It usually lacks spots on it's throat and the dorsal line can stay into adult hood unlike P. adspersus which usually only has it when young. The head is also not as wide as it's larger relative.

Some Dwarf African Bullfrog pics.

Was looking at some pics of both and the Giant seems to have like a greenish hue on its back and the dwarf has yellow. Or it could just be my vision playing tricks on me. Either way just an observation

Yeah the True African Bullfrog is more green in coloring. It also has larger, more numerous dermal bumps.

I was gonna mention the bumps but couldnt tell if those came or went with age or not so decided not to mention it lol. Pretty cool. Ide rather have that other frog you mentioned though the Goliath lol
