I have four small african cichlids that are always hiding in caves. So my tank looks empty. I wanted to know If i could add about 6 Tiger barbs or giant danios ? just untill my cichlids get bigger and are not hiding so often.

try some bucktoothed tetras....

Try some small feeder guppies

My guess if you put 6 in there you will see some life out of your africans. About once a month I like to add some feeder guppies.

Why don't you add more cichlids? If they're in the 45 gallon in your sig, you could fit 5-6 more. As long as you have the filtration and do the water changes to handle it.

yea in a 45 tall they would be more cramped. I would say 10 would be too much but you can add 3/4 more. The only problem then would be the m/f ratio. 1m/3f or all males. The saulosi can be pretty brutal so I would watch out.

You could add smaller fish like others suggested as well. Its a good idea but they will slowly disappear.

after seeing you have a common pleco and dragon goby I may take back my suggestion for more cichlids, the bio-load of those 2 is large enough. No aggression between those 2? Usually those gobies wont allow ANY other bottom feeder or catfish.

No, don't add those. Add more cichlids.

I would say add a few more cichlids that are the same or compatible. Not to many tho. Also rearrange the hides when you add new fish. Also make sure they all have at least 1 hiding spot. P.S. the lombardoi can be aggressive I have 1 that is the king of my tank.
