African Dwarf Frog Sick?

you can believe what i been through today the other frog is alive here the story i took all the water out wash everything and put it back back in and waiting for the water to warm up for the lucky frog who made only 1
it died do to leftover food in the tank called called ammonia braying the frog second frog story i was putting the frog in the tank it jumped out and it was 26 sec i found got it put it back in the tank it alive now it hiding also and he was corvered with dirt so the dirt broke off somewhere in the tank

Adf's to my knowlegde are nocturnal. I feed my 3 adf hbh tad pole and frog pellets. They are stinky so they sniff them out pretty well since they have poor sight. It may be a case of them not being able to get to the blood worms. I started with the blood worms as well and they didnt get much thanks to my tetras but the pellets work much better cause they sink i just try to drop them wherever the frogs are and they seem to get them much easier. They only need or eat I should say 2 or 3 each which is plenty and then I still hand or tweezer feed them blood works alternatingly. It alot of fun i just wave them infront of them and they snatch it from the tweezers. This also helps form a bond with them. Also I try to feed them in the same spot so they know where there meal is. Good Luck

Yeah, my BN female. I've since moved the frogs to another tank. The pleco never bothered them but since it was getting bigger I figured better safe than sorry.

I thought it was the OP's picture, I was skimming.
Sorry about that :P

i think when my frog run out he step on the dirty place and got bacterial infection and i touch him to get him into the tank
does it have bacterial infection or is the tank not cycled

This could be a case of Munchausen syndrome by frog.

You are a hoot, Jannika.

But seriously, Longmvu, this has been going on for too long. You really have to keep your froggie's tank very clean, keep his water the right temperature and use a good dechlorinator, such as Prime by Seachem.

I'm afraid your frog may have come down with "redleg", which is a bacterial infection and this is serious. Probably he is sick from being weakened by living in a tank that is not cycled and that has not had the water changed enough.

I'm not trying to be critical, please believe me... I want to help, but you really have to keep his water clean.

At this point, the way you describe him I do believe he most likely has a bacterial infection. You should get a good antibiotic, perhaps Maracyn and Maracyn 2, which I've read that other frog keepers have used for bacterial infection in ADFs.

I have kept ADFs, but never had to treat for bacterial infection so I can't speak from experience regarding antibiotics for ADFs, but I have read a lot of threads in which this has been done successfully.

I hope your frog gets better, but as some others have suggested in the links you've provided, it might be best if you can get your frog to a more experienced frog keeper. Best wishes to you... I do so hope he gets better.

longmvu - You have posted the same questions, and received the same replies on all other forums and things just keep escalating for this poor frog. The replies from others have all been the same. Your questions are also very difficult to decipher. You haven't done anything that any folks have suggested. It has been one fiasco after another.

He has been stuck under things, fed once a week, spoiled food left in tank, frog in tank trying to cycle, frog water used from a dirty bucket, yellow water, injured frogs from falling and jumping out on dirt, no water changes, dead frog left in tank for a couple of days and I'm sure I am missing quite a bit.

You have him in a tank that is trying to cycle which is BAD.
You have already had a frog die because of these poor conditions.

I think it would be best for you and the frog, to re-home him. If you know someone that has a healthy tank, that is safe for the frog, or a fish store that would take him, I think that would be the best way to help him.

You should also consider reading faqs on taking care of any live animal before you decide on getting any in the future.

We do realize you are trying your best to take care of him but things have been getting progressively worse. Please consider re-homing him.

At this point your frog is barely surviving-certainly not thriving. If you keep him in these conditions I most certainly guarantee you he will not survive.
