At last I've acquired the first batch of fish for my 125 gallon planted project.

15 neon tetras.

8 corydoras delphax.

They're currently floating and acclimating in the QT with the lights turned off (only had them on to take the pics). Not cardinals and pandas as the original plan went, but at this point I'm just happy to have new fish here at home and not distantly in my mind or on internet photos.

Congats indeed! Keep a eye on your parameters, especially ammonia for now. Water changes are next to no effort in a 10g as compared to a 125g...my largest tank is 110g with no fish so far. Good luck!

LFS. Spent a good 15 minutes talking with the guy there as I had already been to the place a dozen times before and was intent on not leaving the store that day until I had bags of fish in my hands. Was going to pick up a farlowella I had seen the last time I was there half a week ago but it was sadly gone. Also was going to start with black neons but the ones they had ich so, wasn't about to start off the wrong foot.

New pics now that they've settled. Truth be told I didn't even know this species existed before yesterday, but the strange orange band behind their foreheads caught my eye. In fact because there wasn't a tag on their tank the employee wasn't sure what they were either so we looked through a species catalog to confirm they were C. Delphax. ?

The neons have colored up. Sadly however one didn't make it through last night. Have checked the water parameters and everything's good (the tank is fully cycled but erring on the side of caution regardless) so it likely just didn't take the move well. Will wait a few days before going back to the store as they have a week guarantee just in case there are other casualties.

Looks great!

I haven't kept neons in years, but the times I did, If I bought 12, I'd loose 2 or so in the first week, then be good to go.

I didn't really read up on them well back then. They supposedly do better in cooler water temps. Pretty much sub tropical temps.

True, they colour up nicely in cooler temps.
Both tanks are in the mid 70's (I know cories prefer such temperatures as well). Probably why they colored up so quickly.
