Albino African Dwarf Frog and Snails!!

He might still be shocked :) It can take snails a while to warm up to a new home. I wait at least a day before checking on a snail that's not moving. Usually I can tell if one is dead (before it gets stinky!) when one is mostly out of his shell, and when I touch him he doesn't move. When I touch my snails' bodies they usually freak out then close themselves in their shells and lock the door LOL. Lovely snails BTW. He has a very nice, strong looking shell. I love golds. My only gold died this week! :(
yeah, when i took those pics he was like out a lot, then when i went to touch his shell he like went back in and "closed the door".. hope he is fine, im going to exchange my frog that wasn't the right kind my LFS said it was for like 2-3 more of those snails, i love them

that sounds great :) If he closed his door on you, I wouldn't worry too much. I'd say he's just stressed out then. I just leave him alone for a bit. By tomorrow you'll probably see him off in another spot of the tank :) LOL or you could throw in some snail jello and give him some temptation. Sorry to hear your frog isn't what you thought. Nice that you're getting more snails though! They are lovely little things. The one that recently died would come to the top of the tank when I fed the fish, and eat shrimp out of my hand :hearts: They have loads of character! Glad you like them!

Yup it's an african clawed frog.

African dwarf frogs have webbed feet, this guy doesn't.

Also, sniff the snail that's an easy test to see if it's dead.

Nooo you have to feed them! You can make them snail jello or feed them fish food in pellet form (easier for them to eat). They should also get some lightly boiled veggies (calcium for strong shells). I like to think of them as real PET snails as you truly have to care for them and they get pretty large (poo a lot, ect.).

LOL the Doctor beat me to it!

If you have a ton of extra food and algae in your tank one could have enough to eat, but since you're going to end up with multiple snails you should feed them. There are lots of cool snail food recipes on this site that are fun to make:

what if i get sinking food that will sink past my betta and let sit for them to find.? im going to return the frog tomorrow so ill look..?

Yeah, they'll eat sinking pellets and algae wafers. They'll still like some lightly boiled veggies every so often though. Need calcium for shells. Mine really like zucchini and green beans.

do you just lightly boil them and let them sink? and they find them?
