I'm getting the urge to buy an albino tiger oscar or an albino red oscar when i've got a big enough tank and was just wondering if they are a good fish to keep? Like are they entertaining to be around? Do they have there own personality? Do they form a bond with the owners?

From what I know of oscars, they are one of the more interesting fish. Obviously it varies from fish to fish, but generally I believe they learn to recognize their owners and have a lot of personality

Great personalities! Yes, they will bond. A great fish.

i agree, they are great fish to keep if you can supply them with a large enough tank, and good filtration

they are like the dogs of the fist world..i have 3..wouldn't trade them for nothing

They know who is feeding them and they also know who dosn't like thier owner or them. I have read that some peoples Oscars even let their owners give them a gently rub, but I stress that nobody try it it could lead to a serious bite or wound.

I don't think a wound would result. IME.

They can play ball with a ping pong ball as do jags, though. :)

which ones tend to be more aggressive the albino's or the normal oscars? malso if they bite you does it hurt?

i have 2 of them. they are only about 6" atm and ive been bit by accident while hand feeding them. its doesnt hurt yet.
very very personable fish, started handfeeding when they were about 3 inches.
now theyll jump about 6 inches out of water for their food occasionally latching onto my finger( if i take too long or get preoccupied while holding their meal above them).
they can differenciate one person from another, when me or my daughter are near they beg for food, but when my wifes near they ignore her lol.

it all depends on the individual fish

mine seems to like breaking up any "arguements" lol..between my male tiger and female red..

I had two Red Oscars in a 55 gallon tank. They were hilarious at times, pathetic at others. Sometimes they would sulk. Whatever the case, they were always entertaining and always happy to see me. I had them munch on my fingers a number of times and don't remember being hurt. They can be messy, but they're worth it. I ultimately had to pass them along and offered them to a friend who ran a nice little LFS in the city where I lived at the time. They occupied a prominent place in his store and his wife doted on them. Awhile after they moved to the store, I walked in and discovered that my former pets had BRED! There were lots of little Oscars swimming around in the tank with the parents. I got free fish food at that store after that until I moved away.
