I've got Fissidens Fontanus attached to my driftwood in my planted tank. Now I've got that horrible green hair algae growing in it. I've tried using a toothbrush to remove the algae. I've tried pulling it out very carefully by hand. I've added Otos and SAE's. I've got Cherry shrimp and Blue/Black Shrimp.

Is there anything else I should try before I completely rip it all out and throw it away? I like the Fissidens, but the algae is uncontrollable.

I thought about that, but there's no way I can feed the rest of my fish and not feed the molly's too.

that's true... Maybe I'll try that. Thanks!

Would Muppy's eat the algae? I just got 4 of them last night... (at least that's what we think they are).

mollies and endlers, mine are eating black algea,.. and the gouramis ate hair algea and i fed them they just love algea,.. but i had more than they could eat as i only had 2

I have SAE's that ate all the black beard algae I had in the tank and they do a fantastic job of keeping it away, but nothing seems interested in the hair algae. I may put a muppy in and see if it shows any interest in it.

h202 hydrogen peroxide will kill it!
its the only thing you can put on moss and not kill it off, excel will kill the moss if you use it to spot treat moss.
i had some moss with hair algae in it and all you do is put the pipet righ ton top of it and squirt the h202 reallllllly slow on the algae, do it 2x if you want. do it again the next day and it should be dead 2-3 days later.
3ml per gallon is the max h2o2 you can use.

Should I do a water change the following day to remove the H2O2? Or put Carbon in the filter for a day or 2 to remove it?
