Well not me but my SAE's. I have a couple of SAE's and comparing them to other pics of adult SAE's mine appear to be a little rounder than most. Does anyone else have rounder than normal SAE's or am I being paranoid??

how long have they looked like that?

I don't know SAEs all too well, but my experience with fish THAT rounded has been dropsy, which doesn't always end so well.

I hope to Hades I am wrong, but they certainly don't look normal

I agree that that's probably not right. Are they still swimming/eating okay?

OMG, those are even fatter than my fatty flying fox was after he'd gorge on bloodworms!!! Are they always that fat or do they return to normal a couple hours after eating?

I thought my SAE was chubby but :omg:That doesn't really look healthy, unless gravid females look like that. I have a couple female loaches that are huge with eggs all the time but it starts farther back...That does look more like pineconed.

Do they poo? Do you feed veggies like romaine & zucchini? Maybe a few days of no food except veg would help to see if they change at all. Also maybe try some epsom salt if less food doesn't help. How long have they looked like that? Dropsy that I've seen is pretty fast onset.

I don't know...all the SAE's I've ever had were never that big. Hope all is well.

Well both eat well and with regards to pooping I don't know. They love their zucchini I have to have more that one piece in the tank at a time as the pleco's and loaches also love the vege's.

They appear to swim fine. They are about 2 1/2 years old and have been like that for probably most of their adult life.

I don't know anything about dropsy what are the symptoms other than being fat.

They should be placed in a 20 long set up as a river tank with 2 aquaclear 802 powerheads for a few weeks and fed much less often. Watching a Richard Simmons video may also encourage them to slim down faster... :p:
