Ammonia levels are .5 ppm

Probably been answered but reduce the food amount to once a day.
vacuum the bottom of debri.
Wash filter in aquarium water not tap
test amm lvls on tap water.
Take out 30-50% water every second day.
I had a hell of a time with my tank, and had some fish dying (bad batch from shop now i know)
Remember nitrate bottle is to be shook for 1 minute before adding drops.
Dont over stock tank, a couple fish at a time, or it will spike.
leave filter unwashed for a bit, it has the bacteria needed.
Is your filter good? I added a second small one at other end of tank for good measure.

Ok I am a noob, but alot of people answered my posts on this subject.
I often did 50% water changes when it was high, on a 150ltr tank.
Is this information correct everyone?
hope it helps in some way.
After doing all these things, as suggested from dozens of people my tank is now stable and doing very well :)

P.S try leaving the new water in a bucket over night, it will reduce chlorine and also get it the same temerature.
what is your tank temp?

the person at petsmart recommended baking soda to resolve my ammonia problem. Is this correct? This is the 4th day in a row that i have done a 25% water change and it is still at .5 ppm. Feel like im getting no where. Can i use amquel along with prime or just use one?

No! It'll raise the pH and make the ammonia more toxic. The guy's an idiot.

Raising pH (if it's below 6) SLOWLY may assist if the issue is inhibited filter bacteria, but suddenly raising pH in a tank with an ammonia issue is insane.

25% water changes will only reduce the level by 25% and it'll soon be up again. You need big water changes.
