And She's Back!

Telus' service leaves much to be desired, even when they're not on strike (are they on strike in BC too?)

yeah theyre on strike here

EMS!!!!! Us Sugar Room gals have been missing our 4th Evil Sister! You are NOT allowed to wander off again, Missy! Do you understand me?!?!(Just for the record, I don't buy your story. I know you've just been.... uh.... um..... busy. Got any new, yummy pancake recipies for the rest of us??)

hahahahaha *laughs hysterically* Thanks A ;)

Ah, the fun of dealing with businesses. One thing I have found that helps - sometimes though not always but I have a better 'win' ratio - is making sure I get the name, first and last, of the person I am talking to, "Could you spell that please?" If they know I have their name, more often they make a better attempt at following through.

Kveeti, it would be nice, except I worked in a Call Centre environment for 3 years, and people would lie to customers directly. You really do not know who you are speaking to, some change their name every call, you really just have to hope you are lucky and get someone that actually cares what they are doing.

Welcome Back! Not to be a downer, but expect that your first bill will have all of the charges, having to call again, and finding out the promise of all the fre stuff wasn't recorded either. =P

Harlock.... lol of course since you mentioned it.... we got the bill in the mail today... we owe 106$ and some change lol... we shall see.....

Telus sucks..For that matter, Teresen gas can bite me too...I have no idea how anyone survives on the west coast...Trying to get anything done on the island is a joke, to put it nicely...Dont even get me started on ICBC....

lol those opinions are shared among many others aswell ;) including myself heh

Thanks everyone for the replies! Glad to read them :)

Really? Wow, I'd never even considered that. That's an eye opener for me. When you deal with people all day, I guess it's a form of self-preservation. I know I could never deal with "the public". I can't even deal with myself half the time.

...Dont even get me started on ICBC....Welcome back Ems :)

I did not have kind words about ICBC when I lived in the Lower Mainland. Now that I'm living in the land of privatization and conservative politics, I'm actually missing ICBC (not to mention BC Hydro) and lower rates. If housing wasn't so darned expensive, I'd still be living in Vancouver. :(

Yeah it's interesting being on the "other side" of the line... getting yelled at for something you cannot control... a lot of the people doing the job are quite young and just do the job for the money. Unfortunately with many call centres, the majority of people really don't care.

Hats off to you for taking on a call centre job. I know I wouldn't have the patience for it. My hubby worked the tech support phones when he first started in the software industry and has some stories about customers who have short fuses. He, unlike me, is very diplomatic and can diffuse a tense situation quite well...but that job would just totally stress him out, and he would bring his stress home. Good thing he moved into a new position within six months, I don't think he would have stayed in the industry much longer otherwise. :p:

Mishi : i had to deal with ICBC once...The agent there was so bloody stunned it actually HURT MY BRAIN to talk to her...They were calling my dads trying to get him to talk about an accident he had...The problem was, my father died the day after a minor fender bender...I told her he was at fault and just file the claim...She explained this would effect his insurance rating...ONCE AGAIN i explained that unless my father was re-incarnated he wasnt going to be worrying about insurance...Once again she remined me of the premium increase...I just hung up.

That's just amazing! And sadly, probably typical for the union-based beaurocracies in BC. It's amazing what idiots some staff can be. I had worked in a union job myself when I lived there, and it was shocking to see some people still working in my division just because of seniority...very difficult to terminate those whom didn't fit their jobs or the company.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, and sorry you had to deal with bull@#*% like that at such a difficult time. :(
