i think i might nkow the cause of death.
are your mollies in a 1 male, 2 female group? if not, and they are all males, they may have been harassing the angel and biting at its fins and scales until it died

the group is one male 2 females and they usualy didnt dare going near the angel because he would chase them if they got to close he looked to be in perfect health.

i do recall now that i used some spray on wood polish in my room last week maybe fumes from that caused it. but i would think it would have happened sooner and showed some symptoms.
