On Sunday I purchased 6 Angel Veil Rams all but 1 has not survived. The ammonia levels are good in fact they are 0. All other parameters are in range as well. Any clues as to what the heck is going on here. They were in a 10 gallon tank with 2 playties, it has been fully cycled etc. Any ideas

We have had no issue with pH at all we do the whole thing with floating the bag and then adding an ounce of our water after 20 minutes and we keep this up for quite sometime in fact my b/f is rather meticulous about it.

Could have been aggression. Why not just put them into the 90 gallon? Or you could buy a couple at a time and qt them.
I really doubt aggression in such a short time. Rams do not often spar to death. They are undoubtedly sensitive and will die at times for no apparent reason at all. It is practical to perform quarantine. This is better than simply skipping it and eventually introduce diseases with disastrous results.

oops. didn't realize this was already posted. I have the same question in newbie forum..

just to clarify..the 90 gallon has been filled and running for all of 4-5 days. The rams were bought now becuase it was a "now or we don't know when we will have them again" thing

I would suspect the fish may not have been healthy to begin with.

however, if there is a significant difference in pH ..the float bag in tank and add water every 20 minutes may not be the best method.
research drip acclimation..it is done with marine fish and is the best way to allow the fish time to adjust. drip acclimation can take as long as 3-4 hours.

I do suspect there may have been health issues with those rams..and this is a good reason to practice good QT .
it is possible they carried a pathogen.
