I am setting up a planted 29g tank and I was considering Angels, cory cats and apistogrammas. Can I keep these together, and if so in what combinations and numbers can I keep them in a 29g?

Thanks in advance!

a pair of angels and a group of 6 corys would be a nice stocking already. apistos might be a bit too much since corys and apistos occupy the same territory. If you were to keep apistos, you need a group of about 3-5 (1 male to 2-4 females). I think you'd have to pick one group or another, but I might be wrong.

I have 5 corys & a pair of apisto cacatuoides in a 29g. I'd add only 1 angel, 2 may be a pair & can be aggressive when breeding. If not a pair they may fight.

Yes, 29 is a bit tight.
If enough hiding places, and frequent water changes, with good filtration, you might be able to do 3 corys on a small side with 1M 2F apistos, plus a pair of angels, but might be pushing it.

maybe I should have mentioned that although i am new to AC i am not new to keeping fish. I have kept angels, apistos, and cory's in the past, just not in the same tank.

here's the setup:

29lbs (I have two 20lbs bags) eco complete
1 30" 31watt t-5 Coralife ballast with 6700k bulbs
eheim 2215 classic canister
planning on using flourish excell or maybe home made low tech co2 at least initially.

I plan on planting fairly heavily with driftwood as decor.

I am starting to lean towards a pair of apistos, a school of cardinals, a couple oto's, and a 3-5 cory's depending on the number of cardinals.

suggestions? hints? tips?

Sounds like a good plan but go with 5-6 corys ;) I wish I could find a couple more of the species I have, loxozonas. They're kind of shy & would prefer a little cooler temp, not ideal with the apistos. They take turns eating each others eggs.

did you have a certain breed of apistos in mind? If you do, see if they are pair breeding or harem breeding. If they are harem breeders, you'll need 1 male and multiple (2-4) females.

But other than that, your stocking sounds pretty good. Keep at least a group of 5 corys.
