nice piece, not really fish safe and i would keep it that way. no point in ruining something that old when it wont hold very many fish anyways.

Nice piece

I don't think I'd risk fish in it either, and besides, how would you get filtration into it without ruining the easthetic? (all the tubes and wires sticking out etc). But some gravel and an aquatic plant might be nice. all the better if you can get CO2 & light to it.

I don't think it's a fish tank. That stand looks like it would topple over too easily if there was water in the container.

I've got to wonder if this newbie was just looking to advertise here.

Less the 24 hours after his post it's up for auction on ebay?

Thanks hannys poppa, Its been about 7 years since my german class, so I can see how my memory failed me on that one. I'll take it from a true german without any hard feelings ;) But I did think berlin was called something different in german than english? mabey thats another major city? Oh well, I will stand by the fact that the area of origin wasn't required on imports till later in the 1900's. And the Burlin marke is the name of a company that manufactures filters today(Found that out last night) so It's possibly the maker of that piece

What harm was done? He took the time to upload really neat pictures of a thing you'd probably never seen before. Maybe he was looking for info to include in his ebay description. You may have learned that Bern was a city in Switzerland and that brass is an alloy that is made partially of copper. Some day you could be on Jeopardy, and that knowledge could win you money. Perhaps you won't be, and you have just gained information. And knowing is half the battle.
