Hi everyone,

While this is technically a newbie question, I'm really hoping for the the input of experienced users only.

I got some great input and advice yesterday from an experienced user who suggested my tank is close to being overstocked, and while I have absolutely NO reason to doubt him, I have to say one of the most difficult part of this hobby for a beginner is that there is all kinds of conflicting advice out there. The biggest factor for me to ensure I continue enjoying this is the well being of my fish. I don't ever want to do anything to compromise that, so I want to be as thorough as I can with my research.

With all that being said, I thought it might be a good idea to post a poll and collect feedback from experienced users about whether or not I can safely add two more fish to my tank (2 peacock gudgeons) or should I leave well enough alone.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

20 gallon planted
AquaClear 200 filter
Last readings were: Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, PH 7.5, temp 24 Celsius
Weekly water changes of approx 20%, vaccuum substrate.

2 Honey Gouramis
4 Dwarf Neon Rainbows
4 Kuhli Loaches

You can see pics here.

very nice looking tank btw, i really like it!

how old is the tank? i think that you might be able to fit two more, but it may be pushing it... i ask how old it is, because a mature tank should be able to support a couple more fish than a newly set up one

Thanks for the compliment, and the feeback, Lobo!

The tank is quite new...approx. 2 months.

My Honey Gourami has a stripe on it's side and the male has a blue throat and yellow fins. Never sceen any like that before, yours look more red than honey IMO.

This is a good picture of wha the male would look like

You're probably right. They were sold to me as simply "Honey Gouramis", but I have found so many different combinations of names for these guys, I've given up! Everything from "Flame Honey", "Red Honey", "Red Flame Honey", and on and on!

This guy lists them as Fire Honey Gouramis, and they look pretty close to me. I guess I'll update the name.

I voted yes. The only thing I would be concerned about is if the gouramis mistake the gudeons for another gourami. They do kinda remind me of a paradise fish.

if you add anything, add more bows. don't get the gudgeons, please. i know it's temping, but you will be OS.

I voted "yes" but I suggest that you increase your school of bows rather than add peacocks. The addition would probably max out your tank though. So maybe do at the very least 25% water changes weekly. Good luck with the hobby. I warn you this is very addicting
