another peacock gudgeon breeding journal

congrats ash!! grr you making me want to get some for my 10 galllon! ill see if my petstore has sone today, if so ill let you know if or what kind i get! good luck!!! how many do you think would work in a 10 gallon?

Cool! I'm surprised how colored up the danios are, hope they don't go down for some gudgeon snacks. Keep up the good work, who knows what'll spawn next for you.

Thanks everyone!

I am not sure how many would work in a 10g LBF. I keep 3, 2 females and a male together.

Thanks Fishorama! I am def keeping an eye on the danios. Right now they are only big enough to eat things like vinegar eels and infusoria type stuff, so no worries yet, but they DO grow faster than the gudgeons, so I am going to keep an eye out and move them before they put the other fry in any danger. I feel lucky. I seem to have pretty good spawning water. Pretty much all the aquatic stuff I have has spawned at one point or another. I am not sure what I will try next as far as fry raising. :)

I got a video of the fry eating first bites among the algea and the moss lol. They are starting to look more like fish yaay! :)

Suuuure. Stop putting Viagra in your water!

HAHA don't kill me, but I just pulled another tube full of eggs lol. I actually had the male eat 2 of the spawns before I could pull them. I am not sure what makes him eat some and not others. This is a REALLY big spawn though so hopefully a lot of them hatch. I think I just have good water for spawning things. It is kind of in between soft and hard..more on the soft side, and I think a lot of aquatic stuff like to spawn in those conditions, and then supposedly if you have one thing spawning, the hormones affect the other critters and sometimes get them in the mood too. I also feed live a good bit which helps condition and I do a lot of water changes, so I think all of it put together inspires a lot of fish and invert sex lol.

Lol.

You're so lucky. I don't think my two fry have detached from their eggs yet... Maybe they're a little slow...aye?

Yeah, I had a few like that in each clutch that seemed to hang on forever before they started free swimming. They might just be late bloomers lol.

This last spawn was the largest I have seen, so I thought I would share a pic of the egg tube.
