another peacock gudgeon breeding journal

I do have a few different foods ready for them, vinegar eels, infusoria, green water, first bites, and baby brine shrimp. I am not sure how often they can lay eggs. Mine seem to be spawning again, but I think it's a different female. I just fed mine a lot of frozen bloodworms and grindal worms and they got in the tube and got down to business lol. I was worried about my male eating the fry as well, so I pulled the tube to a fry tank as soon as I saw eyes in the eggs. Apparently there is no telling when he will turn on the eggs. Just a guessing game for the most part. Good luck with yours. :)

TY! :)

I have not updated the last day or so simply because there is nothing all that new going on. They are still all wriggling in their little tube, but not free swimming in the fry tank yet. I am thinking anytime now though. A few of the eggs were knocked from the tube to the bottom of the fry tank, but the fry still seem to be wiggling about inside the egg, so hopefully those will be ok as well.

Please keep doing the updates! This is really cool.

You mean Hikari First Bites, right? I have that too. I'm not so happy with the rate of growth I observed while fish are on it but my fry (platys and guppy) seem to like it (maybe it's the garlic and MSG!) and I like the size of the food. My tadpoles really like it too!

Thanks everyone!! I will def keep it up with the updates. Tonight, a lot of the fry are out of the tube, but still in their egg sacs so they are not free swimming. I expect I will see them hovering around outside their eggs soon :).

Captmicha, I have heard mixed reviews about the first bites. Some say their fish love them and eat them and do well, others say they did not get good results. I am planning to wait until the fry are large enough to eat them to try them, and if I am not happy with the results I will chuck them. I figure it's worth a shot though.

Thanks AFBRC, Londonloco, Mg, and Rach! I am so so excited/nervous about raising the fry lol.
