another peacock gudgeon breeding journal

Also, Thanks for the congrats guys! :)

Gettin down to bidness! Did he abandon his first family, or is he doing the double life thing?

I think the first was some kind of blank spawn. There was some stuff in the tube, but it wasn't eggs O_O. He is sticking by this tube though and defending and fanning it. :)

lol, that was indeed exactly what it was like!

ats So today when I checked on the tube I could see little eyes in the eggs so I decided to go ahead and pull the tube to my fry tank set up. It is a 3 gallon critter keeper with water from the original gudgeon tank, a sponge filter, and some moss and plants. I attatched the tube with a pvc elbow to the sponge filter output so that there will still be some flow over the eggs. Here are todays pictures:

if i was you i would take the snails out of there because if they notice the eggs they will eat them that happened to me a month ago with the desert gobies

Thanks Jeta. :)

cooky:

Actually briggs are not really egg eaters IME. I leave them with all my egg layers and have never had an issue. Also, there is an air pump flowing through the tube which typically keeps snails from wanting to go in there. I have the briggs in there on purpose for the fry for the infusoria in their poop and slime. I have been keeping an eye on them, but they have shown no interest in the tube whatsoever.
