If you're going to have just three tanks(that's your limit), and two of them are 60 and 37g, what would the third be? A 12g, a 40 or a 50. It may seem obvious, but a smaller tank is great for hospital, breeding, or quarentine.

A 40 and 50 are the same footprint (36x18) but the 50 is 3" taller at 19" vs 16" for the 40.

I can get a 40 for $65, but a 50 would cost me $102(and a 75 would cost me $110, but that's out of the question) Tops are extra...

I'm able to get one of these larger tanks as long as I sell the 12 gallon.... but then I'm limited for smaller hopsital tanks.... I won't have one... see? it's not that east. I suppose I could use a divider and still use this tank for breeding.

Any thoughts?

If you don't have a quarantine tank, keep the 12g for this porpose.

If you do have a quarantine, get the 40g, as you could fit the same amount of fish as you would in the 50, and it's cheaper.

Yes, you are obsessed, if not, then you will be soon - just trying to drag you down (or up, wich ever you think is better) to my level  .

yep, you're obsessed! welcome to our world... MUHAHAHAHA!!!

im just like you when ever i go to my LFS i want a bigger tank but i think 3 good
I'm the exact oppisite - every time I go to the LFS I don't want a bigger tank anymore. Stupid price tags...

Now why limit yourself like that? Keep the 12g and get the 40g. Live on the edge. lol 5 tanks here. Sure its enough, but I still comb the garage sale ads everyday looking for another bargain. If I haven't run out of places to put them, I don't have enough tanks. :)

Only 5? Right now I have 5 in various rooms in my house and 8 set up in my greenhouse plus a few empty ones laying around just in case. Like you I also check every garage sale/flea market I see looking for tanks. There is always room somewhere to put another tank.
