These are a nocturnal burrowing species, I wonder if they can be kept with the same type of bedding as gerbils and other rodents? Information is super scarce on them.
Ooops... looks like I was wrong. Jerboas are not closely related to gerbils. That said, gerbils are a burrowing species so for what it's worth, here's what I know about gerbils and burrowing: It's very important to provide them with deep bedding, otherwise they develop a behavior called "stereotyped digging" in which they incessantly scratch at the corners of the cage. They should not have any kind of aromatic wood chips or shavings because they are prone to respiratory infections, and it's best to stay clear of shavings/chips altogether. I used Carefresh (http://www.petco.com/product/3370/Carefresh-Natural-Pet-Bedding.aspx), which is made from wood, but it's more like paper than shavings. I kept my gerbils in a 10 gallon tank with a "topper" cage that was about the same size as the tank. I kept the tank almost completely filled with bedding so that they had plenty of room to burrow, and I kept their food and water up in the topper. Because of the burrows, I only changed the bedding once a month, but smell and cleanliness were never a problem.
Again, I don't know anything about jerboas specifically, but I hope that this is at least a little bit helpful.
Good luck!
