Anyone good with cats?

Puma, have you ever heard what "animal digest" is in pet food

I agree. I buy a whole chicken once or twice a week and bake that for the kitties plus their natural balance. I don't feed them raw chicken but I know many owners who do feed it raw. My kitties will also get a cooked brown rice, raw egg, and for some reason they LOVE canned peas too??? Who would have imagined? LOL.

Even my Parrot (TAG) and parrotlet get a really good seed mix but their primary diet is a homemade birdie bread and tons of raw freah veggies, fruits, grains and cereals.

I think a good natural balanced diet is what is best for our animals. Now...if I could only figure out more natural foods for my fishy!

Make sure you get her spayed, if she's not already (did you ask?). Cats are pretty irritating when they're in heat, and you don't want any babies!

Congrats on your new kitty. :)

Thanks eveyone for tha info. and thanks PumaWard, il makre sure to buy somthing else for her.

I only baught iams cause it was the only one for kittys at the store. I also feed her half a small can of Whiskas: Seafood in sauce. Has alot of seafood parts in it, i read the ingredients and it dosnt say any kind of corn or stuff like that.

Anyone got any tips on what kind of kitty litter? right now i use Fresh Steps Premium..smells pretty good when i scoop the waste out and shift the litter around.

Thanks

I have one of those doghouse style cat litter boxes. It gives the cat a place to do its buisness in private, and it doesn't smell. Another plus is it minimizes the amount of litter that gets pawed out. I use the cheapest cat litter i can find, i also use the unscented. I dont scoop the box, just do a total emty ever 2 days. Whatever kind you start with try to stick with it. Some cats are particular about there ltter, and changing it. I usually get the special kitty unscented.

I use freshstep clumping cat litter, but my family has 4 cats and we need something strong :D.

I also use the Fresh Step. The scented is my preference too, after scooping, the freshness is always there. No one ever knows there's a cat in the Doll house :)

side note: I feed my cat Kit & Kaboodle.... only because she's very picky and has decided everything else would be much better on the floor.... or all over the floor. One thing I do know is the fish-type foods makes their "poo" smell worse than when eating the other meats catfood has to offer. I usually only give her the fishy stuff once a week and she seems to be a happy camper.

I also wouldn't count on her later liking treats. I have 2 cats--one eats anything and everything (he's a Blue Russian, too). The other would not TOUCH anything other than cat food--dry kibble at that. She'll eat Kookamungo kitty treats now, but still ignores chicken, beef, etc.

The best advice I can ever give a cat owner is to avoid trying to make the cat do anything. Encourage the behavior you want by making it appealing (ie, some treats, petting, quiet voice). Trying to make a cat do something is the best way to end up with a cat that hates you. I'm one of those people that all cats seems to like (really--even cats that hate everyone else soon curl up and let me rub their tummies), and the only thing I know I do differently is that I will NEVER make a cat do something.

I have read many places that you should have more litter boxes than you do cats, as well as a box on every level of your house. so, if you wanted to get fancy, you could use more than one kind of litter, as long as you kept them straight :)

Same here, with 3 cats. We soon discovered our's are completely spoiled with the Fresh Step, and refuse to use anything else! lol
