Just make sure you don't keep yellows and cherry shrimp in the same tank as they will interbreed. I agree. CRS are really cool looking. I've been wanting to get some myself, but I'm gonna have to wait for the prices to come down a bit.

they are really neat. i agree not to mix yellow and cherry together. just make sure the cherry shrimp dont out compete the crs for food. oh the bee shrimp are cool too.

what happens if they inter breed? you get red and yellow  sorry I am in a weird mood LOL!

Try craigslist if you're looking for CRS.
I found a seller through CL for pretty cheap! But of course, the grade of the shrimp is pretty low too. Like, C and B grade for 4 dollars each CRS/Bee shrimp. Either way, it's a good price and they're hard to come by :)

Low grades look better anyway. Too much white on the shrimp kind of kills the beauty in my opinion.

my only opinion on the downside of mixing caridina and neocaridina is as juvies it may be difficult to seperate (especially as you have lots of offspring and need to seperate to sell). Yellows and cherries can produce a "muddy" offspring down the line. Cherries and crystals cannot interbreed, but crystals are much more sensitive. I think that if I were to go to the expense to keep crystals, it would be a one man show to guarantee I can suit their needs.

Yellows and Cherries are the same species, but selectively bred for their color. If you mix them, they will revert to a wild color - brown.

Tiger/Crystal(CRS)/Bee shrimp have more specific environmental needs than Red Cherry Shrimp. They also interbreed, but not with RCS (Red Cherry shrimp).

It can be helpful to think in terms of scientific names (genus/species... uh when available, and when it isn't complete garbage) as closer related shrimp share the same parameters (pH, temp, most notably).

Think in terms of wild ecosystems helps. The rules can be stretched, but flirting with them can cause you to waste time and money. There is a reason why Zoo's don't put all their animals in one cage. I know, kind of a lame example, but it works.

Well I was wondering, do these shrimp escape? I had 8 and now have only 3. 2 boys and a girl. I was wondering where the heck they went  I have an opening at the back of the tank because of the HOB

I believe you have cherry red shrimp, not crystals. But regardless, you have moss or plants in the tank? I "lost" all of mine for some time after the initial purchase. Typically however many you can see, that many more are hiding at the same time (at least it seems that way). I would give them more time. Its possible you had some die-off from acclimation, but cherries are pretty darn hardy.
